NBC is defending its decision to keep up with the Kardashians while other networks observed a moment of silence for the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th attacks on Tuesday. Network spokeswoman Megan Kopf told Politico.com that the "Today" show "dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage" that morning "throughout the entire show." NBC also caught considerable flak for what many believe was a programming faux pas with many viewers taking to Twitter to express their horror over the programming decision.
"Today's" morning show rivals, "Good Morning America" and "CBS This Morning" both aired the somber ceremony led by President Obama and the First Lady at the White House at 8:46 am - the moment the first plane hit the World Trade Center in New York City. But coming out of the commercial break at 8:45 am, "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie introduced reality TV mom Kris Jenner who discussed all things Kardashian during the five-minute segment.
While NBC defends itself New York Magazine put together a damning video that makes NBC look really bad. See the video at NYMag.com.
