Illinois Among Top Ten States With Highest Taxes

Good news and bad news when it comes to Illinois' taxes. Good news is it isn't the highest in the nation; bad news is it rounds out the top ten. The Tax Foundation groups it in the front of the pack based on its eight point two percent combined state and local tax rates. California tops the nation when it comes to state taxes but ranks 13th overall. Tennessee has the highest combined rates at nine-point-45 percent.
