Three book publishers and Apple may have to pay the price for jacking up prices for E-books when the iPad came out. Attorney General Lisa Madigan and several other states have filed a lawsuit, claiming Apple, Macmillan Publishers, the Penguin Group, and Simon and Schuster worked together in the scheme. Before the iPad was launched, most E-books sold for nine-ninety-nine but prices jumped by as much as five bucks after it hit the scene. Madigan wants to recover money for Illinois consumers who were overcharged for the books.
