Violet Marie Elsasser

Bradford – Violet Marie Elsasser, 98, of Bradford, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Vi was born February 15, 1914, in Roanoke, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Streitmatter Stoller. She married William C. Elsasser, Jr., on June 1, 1941, in Princeville. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1992, in Peoria. Also preceding her in death were five siblings, Earl, Richard, Floren, Lowell, and Beulah Mae Stoller.

Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Stahl of Bradford, Diana (Dean) Feucht of Inwood, IA, and Suanne (Chuck) Schafer of Edelstein; five grandchildren, Roseann Stahl, Wendell (Linda) Stahl, Weston (Jill) Stahl, Deanne (Dan) Plattner, and Darwin (Robin) Stahl; and fifteen great-grandchildren; five siblings, Lucille (John) Endress of Peoria, Nathan (Martha) Stoller of Bradford, Geralene “Pat” (Edwin) Ringger of Gridley, Vernon (Bernice) Stoller of Princeville, and Joseph (Emily) Stoller of Speer; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stoller of Peoria and Clara Stoller-Huber of Eureka.

Vi and her brother, Earl, operated Illinois Golden Grain Mills in Princeville for several years. She later worked for Hiram Walker Distillery in Peoria. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching birds, taking trips to Holland, Michigan, and Sarasota, Florida, singing and quilting. Vi loved everyone and always had a smile. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her. A member of the Apostolic Christian Church, she was baptized on January 11, 1933, and was a faithful servant of the Lord for 79 years.

Services for Violet Elsasser will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Bradford. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and then from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Further visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradford Rescue Squad.

Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
