KEWANEE - Florence C. Merriweather, 96, of Kewanee, died at 11:40 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
She was born January 11, 1916 in Coldwater, MS, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander. She had married Lawrence Walker and later married Dick Thomas on September 13, 1944. She then later married James Merriweather on June 4, 1958. Survivors include her grandchildren, Rita Cunningham and Francine Warden, both of East Moline, IL, Krystal Davis of Littleton, CO, Annette Chambers, of Conifer, CO and Richard Warden Jr. of San Diego, CA, great grandchildren, Lawan Cunningham of Las Vegas, NV, Jacqueline Nicole Dunning of San Diego, CA, Courtney Babcock of Littleton, CO, Matthew Hostert of Los Angeles, CA, Shanaee Warden of New York, NY, William Warden of Cameron, MO, Alyssa and Ebony Warden, both of Gary, IN, Taylor Davis and Danielle Courtney, both of Littleton, CO and Kiarra Quick of Seattle, WA and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Phillip and her daughter, Emma Jean Brown on October 19, 2011.
She had been a homemaker and a cook and loved to read her bible and Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels.
