Kristine M. Hemphill

Kristine M. Hemphill, 56, of rural Annawan passed away on Saturday April 7, 2012 at her home. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 11 at Calvary Evangelical Congregational Church, Hooppole Rev. David T. Bailey and Rev. Linnea Gustafson will officiate. Burial will be in theHooppoleCemetery. Visitation for Kristine will be on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Atkinson. Memorials may be directed to the Calvary Evangelical Congregational Church, Annawan-Alba Library, and/or family wishes.

Kristine was born on October 10, 1955 in Kewanee, the daughter of Roger and Edith (Gustafson) Polson. She was a 1973 graduate ofAnnawanHigh School. Kristine also graduated fromWesternIllinoisUniversity. She was united in marriage to Rick Hemphill on January 21, 1978 in Hooppole. Kristine was a Math teacher and Volleyball coach atAnnawanHigh Schoolfor several years and did a lot of subbing for theAnnawanSchool District. She then worked for the US Postal Service working for 5 years at the Geneseo Post Office and then moved to theBettendorf,IAPost Office. Kristine was a member ofCalvaryEvangelicalChurch, where she served as church organist, Treasurer for the Memorial Fund, and did a lot of adult Missionary work. She was also a member on the Annawan-Alba Library Board. Kristine enjoyed doing needle work, baking, playing the organ and especially spending time with family and following her kid’s activities.

Survivors include her husband Rick, her mother Edith Polson, Prophetstown; a daughter Andrea (Michael) Smith, Annawan; two sons Darrin (Danica) Hemphill, Armington, IL; Bryce (Kaila) Hemphill, Bradford, IL; four grandchildren Greyson, Wesley, Colton, and Bentley Hemphill, a sister Diane (Hal) Coxon, Ortonville, MI; two brothers Dwaine (Audrey) Polson, Prophetstown, IL; and Kevin Polson, Woodbine, IA.

She was preceded in death by her father Roger Polson.
