Dorothy I. Verschoore, 95, of Geneseo and a resident of the Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the unit. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, April 12 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in theOakwoodCemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Dorothy will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am Thursday prior to Mass. Memorials may be directed to St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Dorothy was born on May 10, 1916 in Geneseo, the daughter of Edward and Sedonie (Lippens) Plasschaert. She was united in marriage to Clarence C. “Dutch” Verschoore on January 15, 1944 in Geneseo; he preceded her in death in 2010. She assisted her husband Dutch in farming North of Atkinson for many years, and also worked atHammond-HenryHospitalin the cafeteria for 15 years. Dorothy was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church and a former member of Spring Creek Grange.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sisters Germaine Verbeck and Lucy Stiner.
