L.B. Sams, 84, of Williamsfield, passed away at 10:37 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Elmore. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born May 27, 1927 in Monterey, TN, the son of Roy and Gratus (Harris) Sams. He married Beulah M. Lane on July 3, 1952 in Peoria and she preceded him in death on August 31, 1998. Survivors include a son, Larry Bruce (Christine) Sams of Chillicothe, a daughter, Gwen (John) Pumphrey of Elmwood, a sister, Peggy Wyrick of Peoria, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his special friend, Wanda Sams. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
L.B. worked as a crane operator and engine tester for Caterpillar for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. He had been a member of the Elmore United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at
