JoAnne M. Ufheil, 76, of Annawan, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held 10:00 am Thursday June 14, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Rev. Jerry Logan will celebrate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. Visitation for JoAnne will be from 4 - 8 pm Wednesday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Atkinson, and a ½ hour prior to Mass at the church. Memorials may be left to the Annawan Food Pantry or Sacred Heart Cemetery.
JoAnne was born on September 13, 1935 in Kewanee, the daughter of Patrick and Marthe (Heimburger) Kaine. She was a 1953 graduate of Kewanee High School. JoAnne was united in marriage to Herbert G. Ufheil on October 15, 1955 in Kewanee. She had been a bookkeeper for the former Sauk Trail Inn in Annawan which was owned and operated by the Ufheil family. She also did bookkeeping for her brother’s accounting business. JoAnne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society of the church, Annawan/Alba Women’s Club, and had served as treasurer for Annawan Food Pantry (Project Pride). She was a volunteer for reading programs at Annawan schools. JoAnne was a generous caretaker for many family members and friends. She enjoyed her grandchildren, socializing and entertaining with family and friends at the pool, having coffee with her girlfriends, watching Jeopardy, and enjoying a glass of wine in the kitchen.
Survivors include her husband Herb, four daughters Michelle Ufheil, Annawan; Marisa (Jim) Gibbons, Tampa, FL; Lori Anne (Douglas) Patton, Goodells, MI; Megan (Matthew) Kintziger, Bettendorf; two sons Eric (Lorraine) Ufheil, Annawan; Edward (Kristy) Ufheil, Crystal Lake, IL; 12 grandchildren Seth, Erin, Kristen, Isabelle, Elena, Amanda, Erica, Liam, Brittany, Stephanie, Cassandra, Ava, two great grandchildren Hayden & Hudson, twin sister Jeannette Kubicek, Pittsburgh, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children Erin Lynnette Ufheil, Kurt William Ufheil, two sisters and three brothers.
