Cards Crush Cubs

Matt Carpenter finished 4-for-4 with five RBI and a run scored to lift the Cardinals to a 10-3 victory over the Cubs in the finale of a three-game set on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium.  Paul Maholm  lasted just four innings for the Cubs, yielding six runs on six hits to take the loss.  Reed Johnson had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored and Starlin Castro also knocked in a run for Chicago, which has now dropped each of its three series to open the season.  The Northsiders are off today.  They head to Miami to kick off a three-game series with the Marlins tomorrow evening.  Ryan Dempster will go up against Josh Johnson in the opener.
